WC Match NO. 26 AUSvsBAN: Report and Analysis.

AUSvsBAN.

BAN has played some good cricket in this tournament. They are no longer the pushovers but a good strong side. The way they chased down 321 runs in around 41 overs in their last game shows how confident they are as a team and today they would be raring to go against kangaroos. But I still believe BAN has many bases to cover. First of all the bowling looks average, Shakib the only stand out bowler. They lack genuine pace attack.

Batting looks promising on paper with a good mixture of youth and experience in the form of Sarkar, Tamim, Rahim, Mahamadulla, Das and last but not the least Shakib. But they bank on Shakib more often than not. If you look closely, it has been Shakib winning them the games, almost single-handedly, yes with a little support from others.

So BAN has a strong batting line up on paper but not clicking in the matches. We all know what Tamim and sarkar can do on a given day and if BAN wants to go the distance in the tournament, then the top order and lower-middle order has to step up to the task.

While on the other hand, AUS looks pretty balanced with the ball, but they should seriously think about including Lyon in the team now.

Batting department, however, looks slightly brittle. Finch has been superb at the top, warner has been making runs but in an UN-Warner fashion. Smith has been in good touch while Khawja needs to contribute and not just throw away his wicket after getting a good start.

Carry has been superb. Maxwell is in a good nick but needs to be a little patient. He often commits hara-kiri. We all know how destructive he can be on a given day but he needs to bat sensibly.

So batting like BAN is very good and strong on paper but some of the players need to rise to the occasion and bat sensibly especially toward the back end of the innings. They get off to a solid start, then score the bulk of runs in the middle phases and all of a sudden toward the back end of the innings they get off track. So this particular area they should work on as the tournament progresses.

So to cut short now.
I believe it is going to be a 60:40 affair,
60 in favour of AUS.
40 in favour of BAN.
Aus would prevail over BAN.
Finch, smith and Maxwell key in the batting department.
Starck, Cummins, and Lyon(if included in bowling department)
WC Match NO. 26.
